You see Starlings are a nuisance pest bird and they nest in cavities. They come in by the hundreds in the spring and seem to find any gap leading into your attic they can find. They then lay their eggs, and when they hatch they cannot fly for a couple of weeks. When the young birds get hungry they yell for Mom! If they are above your bedroom they can get quite annoying. Starlings also have a trait known as haystacking, and they will try to fill the area up with grass, twigs, and debris even trash to make a nest.
